30% Glass Fiber Reinforced Polyester is a subcategory of Polyester. The additative is added by weight during the manufacturing process. Its elastic modulus ranges from 1300 to 1440 MPa. Its flexural modulus ranges from 1200 to 1590 MPa. Its tensile strength ranges from 20000 to 24000 MPa at break. Its flexural strength ranges from 30000 to 36000 MPa. Its Izod Impact strength ranges from 1.5 to 2.2 J/cm. Its elongation at break ranges from 2 to 7 %. Its hardness ranges from 90 to 100 Rockwell M. Its specific gravity ranges from 1.55 to 1.7. Its coefficient of thermal expansion ranges from 18 to 30 x 10-6/°C. Its melting temperature ranges from 245 to 265 °C. Its molding pressure ranges from 4 to 20 MPa.
Polyester is a thermoplastic or thermoset polycondensate. Common trade names are Valox and Celanex. poly(ethylene-terephthalate) It has excellent dimensional stability, high dielectric strength, and good toughness. It has moderate chemical resistance, low resistance to strong acids and bases, and is notch sensitive. However, it is not recommended for outdoor use or in hot water. Polyester is very popular in making clothing and handles.
