Unfilled Polyester is a subcategory of Polyester. The additative is added during the manufacturing process. Its elastic modulus ranges from 400 to 600 MPa. Its flexural modulus ranges from 350 to 450 MPa. Its tensile strength ranges from 7000 to 10500 MPa at break. Its flexural strength ranges from 12000 to 18000 MPa. Its compressive strength ranges from 11000 to 15000 MPa. Its Izod Impact strength ranges from 0.25 to 0.7 J/cm. Its elongation at break ranges from 30 to 300 %. Its hardness ranges from 94 to 101 Rockwell M. Its specific gravity ranges from 1.29 to 1.4. Its melting temperature ranges from 68 to 80 °C. Its molding pressure ranges from 2 to 7 MPa.
Polyester is a thermoplastic or thermoset polycondensate. Common trade names are Valox and Celanex. poly(ethylene-terephthalate) It has excellent dimensional stability, high dielectric strength, and good toughness. It has moderate chemical resistance, low resistance to strong acids and bases, and is notch sensitive. However, it is not recommended for outdoor use or in hot water. Polyester is very popular in making clothing and handles.
