Its hardness ranges from 100 to 104 Rockwell M. Its specific gravity ranges from 1.6 to 1.67. Its coefficient of thermal expansion ranges from 12.1 to 22 x 10-6/°C. Its melting temperature ranges from 88 to 90 °C. Its molding pressure ranges from 5 to 20 MPa.
Polyphenylene Sulfide, also known as PPS, is a thermoplastic polycondensate. The most common trade name is Ryton. It has high temperature resistance (230 ºC continuous), low temperature endurance, good chemical resistance, and flame retardance. PPS can be used to make high performance electrical connectors and other high stress parts.
