50% Glass and Mineral Reinforced PPS is a subcategory of Polyphenylene Sulfide. The additative is added by weight during the manufacturing process. Its flexural modulus ranges from 2240 to 2400 MPa. Its tensile strength ranges from 18000 to 22000 MPa at break. Its flexural strength ranges from 28000 to 33700 MPa. Its Izod Impact strength ranges from 0.8 to 1.3 J/cm. Its elongation at break ranges from 1 to 3.5 %. Its specific gravity ranges from 1.78 to 1.8. Its coefficient of thermal expansion ranges from 12.2 to 14.6 x 10-6/°C. Its molding pressure ranges from 4 to 12 MPa.
Polyphenylene Sulfide, also known as PPS, is a thermoplastic polycondensate. The most common trade name is Ryton. It has high temperature resistance (230 ºC continuous), low temperature endurance, good chemical resistance, and flame retardance. PPS can be used to make high performance electrical connectors and other high stress parts.
