Unfilled PPS is a subcategory of Polyphenylene Sulfide. The additative is added during the manufacturing process. Its flexural modulus ranges from 550 to 600 MPa. Its tensile strength ranges from 7000 to 12500 MPa at break. Its flexural strength ranges from 14000 to 21000 MPa. Its elongation at break ranges from 1 to 6 %. Its hardness ranges from 123 to 125 Rockwell R. Its coefficient of thermal expansion ranges from 27 to 49 x 10-6/°C. Its molding pressure ranges from 5 to 15 MPa.
Polyphenylene Sulfide, also known as PPS, is a thermoplastic polycondensate. The most common trade name is Ryton. It has high temperature resistance (230 ºC continuous), low temperature endurance, good chemical resistance, and flame retardance. PPS can be used to make high performance electrical connectors and other high stress parts.
