Polystyrene, also known as PS, is a thermoplastic polymer. The most common trade name is Novacor 555. styrene / maleic anhydride (SMA) copolymer It is an inexpensive material that is not structurally strong but easy to mold. It machines well, and is highly transparent. PS is commonly used for inexpensive packaging materials, pens, safety razors, flatware, and CD jewel boxes.
