PSU is a subcategory of Polysulfone. Its elastic modulus ranges from 310 to 385 MPa. Its flexural modulus ranges from 330 to 420 MPa. Its flexural strength ranges from 12400 to 16100 MPa. Its Izod Impact strength ranges from 1.6 to 12 J/cm. Its elongation at break ranges from 40 to 60 %. Its specific gravity ranges from 1.29 to 1.37. Its coefficient of thermal expansion ranges from 31 to 49 x 10-6/°C. Its molding pressure ranges from 5 to 20 MPa.
Polysulfone, also known as PSU, is a thermoplastic polycondensate. The most common trade name is Ultrason. poly(arylsulfone) It is an expensive material. It is electroplatable and has high strength, good toughness, good dielectric strength, and dimensional stability. It is commonly used in electric connectors.
