Anodic Reaction
 Ni  Ni2+ + 2 e- 
This is the oxidation reaction.
Nickel will corrode to populate the electrolyte with Nickel ions.

Cathodic Reaction
 Au+ + e-  Au 
This is the reduction reaction.
Gold ions (if present) will be removed from the electrolyte and plated onto the cathode surface as they accept conducted electrons.
The driving potential between the two reactions is 1.9 Volts provided the dissolved species Au+ and Ni2+ are at 1 molar concentrations.
