Notes
This unit was introduced by a German scientist called Gabriel Daniel Fahrenheit (1686-1736) in 1714. To obtain the lowest possible temperature he could get in his lab, he mixed equal amount of table salt and ice and set that to zero degree. He then took his own body temperature and set it to 96 degrees. The final scale, however, was based on 32° for the freezing point of pure water and 212° for the boiling point, with the interval between the two being divided into 180 parts.
