ohm
Symbol:  ohm, W
Category:  Electric resistance
SI Equivalent:  1 ohm
Dimension ML2T-3I-2
System:  SI

Notes
Named after the German physicist Georg Simon Ohm (1789-1854), the ohm is the unit of electrical resistance in the SI system. It is equal to the resistance that produces the potential difference of 1 volt when the current is 1 ampere. Equivalently, 1 ohm of resistance causes 1 watt of power dissipation when 1 ampere flows through it.
